Lipomas

Lipomas

Lipomas are benign, fatty tumors that appear beneath the skin. Some of the causes of lipoma growths are: metabolic syndrome, genetics, injury, age, liver disease/fatty liver and hormone imbalance.

Lipomas can be a sign of Vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B levels can become depleted in the body especially considering our epidemic of low nutrition, poor soil and chronic stress.

In most cases, a person that is developing lipomas has indications of insulin resistance and/or metabolic syndrome. Genetics seem to play a role, but it is unclear if it's impacted more by nurture or nature. Hormones like estrogen and insulin are growth factors in other tumor formation. In functional integrative medicine, the development of lipomas is symptomatic of one or more of these issues.
